A postponed soccer match does not automatically cancel your pool ticket, count as a draw or result in a refund. In South African soccer pools, the outcome depends on which pool you entered, when the match is rescheduled and the settlement rules used by the operator.
In TAB Soccer 6 and Soccer 10, a match that is officially deemed abandoned normally allows all three selections to qualify: home win (1), draw (2) and away win (3). The rest of the coupon is then settled using the completed fixtures, and winning tickets remain eligible for dividends.
Standard Soccer 13 is different. This pool is hosted by Svenska Spel in Sweden and can use a special computerised draw to determine the result of an abandoned fixture. In that situation, only the selection produced by the draw qualifies, rather than automatically accepting all three outcomes.
The distinction matters when a match is called off because of heavy rain, an unplayable pitch, a stadium incident or an unexpected scheduling change. Even if a fixture never reaches full-time, the pool can still produce an official winning combination and dividend.
Soccer pools are based on predicting match outcomes, but the procedure for settling an incomplete fixture is not identical across every product.
Under normal circumstances, results are determined after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are not included in the standard match-result calculation.
When a match is postponed or abandoned, the operator applies the relevant pool rules instead of automatically assigning a home win, draw or away win based on the circumstances.
| Soccer Pool | Postponed Match Treatment | Settlement Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Soccer 6 | All three selections qualify when a match is deemed abandoned | Normally subject to the 9:00 AM deadline |
| Soccer 10 | Home, draw and away selections all qualify | Operator can extend the deadline or abandon the pool |
| Soccer 13 | Actual result or specially determined result | Svenska Spel rules, including the two-day rescheduling provision |
| Soccer 13 Xtra | All three selections qualify for an abandoned fixture | Normally subject to the 9:00 AM deadline |
| Soccer Any 13X | All selections qualify for abandoned matches | Special refund threshold if 18 or more of 30 fixtures are abandoned |
The pool name is important. Soccer 13, Soccer 13 Xtra and Soccer Any 13X may appear similar on a fixtures page, but they are separate products with different settlement provisions.
Another important distinction is the difference between a postponed match and a match officially declared abandoned for pool purposes. The soccer competition may rearrange a fixture for a later date, but the betting pool does not necessarily wait for that match to be played.
Soccer 6 requires players to predict the results of six designated matches. Each fixture has three possible selections: 1 for a home victory, 2 for a draw and 3 for an away victory.
Under TAB Soccer 6 rules, a fixture that is not completed by 9:00 AM on the day after the last scheduled matchday of the pool is normally deemed abandoned. The operator may extend this deadline or decide to abandon the entire pool.
When the abandoned-match provision applies, all three selections qualify for that fixture.
Consider a Soccer 6 coupon with five completed matches and one postponed fixture. A player who correctly predicted all five completed results would also receive credit for the abandoned match, regardless of the original selection.
| Match | Ticket Selection | Pool Result | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| M1 | 1 | Home Win | Correct |
| M2 | 3 | Away Win | Correct |
| M3 | 1 | Abandoned, 1/2/3 Qualify | Correct |
| M4 | 2 | Draw | Correct |
| M5 | 1 | Home Win | Correct |
| M6 | 3 | Away Win | Correct |
The ticket qualifies for the 6/6 winning category because all six selections are correct under the pool’s settlement rules.
This does not mean every ticket automatically wins. A player who incorrectly predicted M4 or M5 would still have a losing selection. Only the abandoned fixture is treated as accepting all three results.
For example, if the postponed M3 fixture is eventually played a week later and finishes 2-0, that result does not automatically replace the abandoned declaration already used to settle the original pool.
When several Soccer 6 fixtures are abandoned, fewer completed matches remain to distinguish winning tickets. That can increase the number of qualifying combinations and influence the final dividend.
Soccer 10 follows a similar settlement principle to Soccer 6. If an advertised fixture is not completed before the applicable deadline and is officially deemed abandoned, all three selections qualify.
The difference is that Soccer 10 contains two winning categories: 10/10 and 9/10.
Under the published pool rules, 80% of the applicable net pool is normally allocated to entries with all ten selections correct, while 20% is allocated to entries with nine correct selections. Carryover provisions apply when the relevant winning category is not won.
Suppose one Soccer 10 match is abandoned and the remaining nine fixtures are completed normally.
| Correct Results From 9 Played Matches | Abandoned Fixture | Total Correct | Winning Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | Qualifies | 10 | 10/10 |
| 8 | Qualifies | 9 | 9/10 |
| 7 | Qualifies | 8 | No 9/10 or 10/10 prize |
These examples assume one selection per match, a single abandoned fixture and no other special settlement circumstances.
A player who correctly predicts all nine completed matches receives credit for the postponed fixture and qualifies for 10/10. Another player with eight correct predictions from those nine played matches can qualify for 9/10.
The abandoned fixture does not remove the match from the coupon or change Soccer 10 into Soccer 9. It remains a ten-match pool, but the designated position accepts all three selections.
The payout is another matter. Soccer 10 is a pool bet, so the dividend depends on the money available for distribution and the number of winning units, not simply on the number of matches played.
A postponement can increase the number of successful entries, potentially reducing the amount paid per winning unit. However, the actual dividend is only known after the operator declares the results and completes the relevant calculations.
Current match schedules, official winning combinations and declared dividends can be followed through our Soccer 10 tips, fixtures and payouts page.
Standard Soccer 13 uses a different system because the pool is hosted by Svenska Spel in Sweden. The host operator’s rules determine how postponed, abandoned and interrupted fixtures are settled.
If a match has not started and is postponed but scheduled to be played within two days of its original date, the ticket remains open so that the actual match result can be used before the dividend is declared.
If the fixture is permanently abandoned or rescheduled beyond that two-day period, a special draw determines the qualifying result.
Unlike Soccer 6 and Soccer 10, this does not automatically make every selection correct.
The published rules for standard Soccer 13 provide for a computerised draw using sixteen lots. Ten are determined by individual expert predictions, while the remaining six are divided equally between the three possible results.
| Draw Component | Number of Lots |
|---|---|
| Individual Expert Predictions | 10 |
| Home Win (1) | 2 |
| Draw (2) | 2 |
| Away Win (3) | 2 |
| Total | 16 |
The distribution is not necessarily equal between home wins, draws and away wins because ten of the sixteen lots depend on the expert predictions.
Imagine a Soccer 13 match is postponed beyond the permitted rescheduling period. The special draw produces result 3, an away victory.
A player who selected 3 for that fixture has the correct pool result. A player who selected only 1 or 2 does not receive credit for that position.
This remains true even if the soccer match is eventually played later and finishes with a home victory. The pool has already been settled using the designated procedure.
The distinction also explains why a Soccer 13 winning combination may occasionally show a result that does not correspond to an actual completed soccer match. The number represents the officially determined pool outcome rather than a score achieved on the field.

The names Soccer 13, Soccer 13 Xtra and Soccer Any 13X can easily be confused, especially when checking fixtures and results across several pools.
However, the standard Svenska Spel-hosted Soccer 13 procedure does not apply identically to the other two products.
For Soccer 13 Xtra, a match not completed by the specified 9:00 AM deadline is normally deemed abandoned, with all three selections qualifying. The operator can extend the completion deadline where permitted by the rules.
Soccer Any 13X follows the same general approach to abandoned fixtures but uses a different ticket structure. Players select thirteen matches from a list of thirty designated fixtures.
There is also a specific refund condition for Soccer Any 13X: if eighteen or more of those thirty matches are deemed abandoned, all bets are refunded.
This threshold is particularly relevant when widespread weather disruption affects multiple competitions over the same weekend.
A player checking a Soccer Any 13X ticket should therefore pay attention to the number of officially abandoned fixtures across the full thirty-match list, not only the thirteen matches chosen on the ticket.
One of the most important details is that the 9:00 AM settlement deadline generally relates to the last scheduled matchday of the pool, not necessarily the original date of the postponed fixture.
Consider a Soccer 10 pool with matches scheduled across Saturday and Sunday. A Saturday fixture is postponed because of heavy rain and rearranged for Sunday evening.
If the rearranged match is completed before the applicable deadline, its actual result may still be used. If it remains incomplete after 9:00 AM on Monday, the abandoned-match rule would normally apply unless the operator extends the deadline.
The operator’s official result source and final settlement decision determine whether the match is considered completed for pool purposes.
This can create several different outcomes from what initially appears to be the same problem.
| Situation | Possible Settlement |
|---|---|
| Match delayed but completed before the deadline | Actual final result counts |
| Match not completed before the deadline | All selections qualify in applicable TAB pools |
| Operator extends the deadline | Result declaration may be delayed |
| Entire pool abandoned | Bets are refunded |
| Standard Soccer 13 rescheduled within two days | Pool remains open for the actual result |
| Standard Soccer 13 permanently abandoned or moved beyond two days | Special draw determines the qualifying result |
A postponement reported by a club or competition organiser does not necessarily mean the pool result has already been declared. Players should distinguish the fixture’s sporting status from its official betting-pool settlement.
A match can be interrupted after play has begun. Floodlight failures, severe storms, crowd disturbances, serious injuries and unsafe playing conditions can force the referee to suspend or abandon a fixture.
Suppose the home team leads 2-0 after 67 minutes when the referee stops the match because the field has become unsafe.
That score does not automatically become a home victory for Soccer 6 or Soccer 10. Under their standard result rules, the match outcome is normally determined after the full 90-minute playing period plus stoppage time.
If the interrupted match is resumed and completed within the applicable settlement window, the final result can be used.
If it is not completed within the deadline and is deemed abandoned, all three selections qualify under the relevant TAB pool provisions.
For standard Soccer 13, an interrupted fixture may instead be settled through the special-draw procedure specified by the host rules.
There is also a difference between a suspended match and a match permanently abandoned by the sporting authorities. A temporarily suspended fixture may resume once conditions improve, while a permanently abandoned match might need to be replayed or dealt with under the competition’s disciplinary regulations.
Those sporting decisions do not automatically determine how an existing pool ticket is settled.
Yes. When all three selections qualify for an abandoned fixture, that position no longer separates correct predictions from incorrect ones.
Consider a Soccer 6 pool with one abandoned match. A player now needs correct predictions for the five completed fixtures, because every selection in the abandoned position qualifies.
More combinations may therefore satisfy the winning conditions than if all six matches had produced individual results.
However, more qualifying entries do not necessarily mean larger dividends.
Soccer pool prizes are distributed from the relevant net pool. The amount paid per winning unit depends on how many qualifying units share the available prize money.
| Example Prize Amount | Winning Units | Dividend Per Unit |
|---|---|---|
| R120,000 | 100 | R1,200 |
| R120,000 | 300 | R400 |
| R120,000 | 600 | R200 |
| R120,000 | 1,200 | R100 |
These are hypothetical calculations using the same amount available for distribution in each example. They do not represent actual declared Soccer 6 or Soccer 10 dividends.
The principle is simple: if the amount distributed remains unchanged while the number of winning units increases, the dividend per unit decreases.
In a real pool, the calculation can also involve separate prize categories, carryovers and other provisions. A postponed fixture alone is not enough to predict the final payout.
This is why the number of correct results and the amount won should always be treated as separate pieces of information.
Multiple abandoned matches can significantly change the number of actual results that players need to predict.
Imagine a Soccer 10 coupon in which two fixtures are declared abandoned under the all-selections-qualify rule. Only eight matches produce individual results, while the two abandoned positions automatically qualify.
A ticket containing eight correct predictions from the completed matches would therefore qualify for 10/10. A ticket with seven correct predictions from those eight matches would have nine correct selections overall.
However, that does not mean the coupon has become an eight-match pool. The ten designated positions remain part of the original ticket, and the official settlement rules determine which selections qualify.
If disruption becomes severe enough, the operator can decide to abandon the entire pool and refund bets. This is separate from the process of accepting all selections for individual postponed fixtures.
Soccer Any 13X provides a particularly clear example of why the number of abandoned matches matters. Its published rules require refunds when eighteen or more of the thirty designated fixtures are deemed abandoned.
The situation is different for standard Soccer 13, where postponed fixtures may be assigned individual results through the special-draw process. Players should never assume that all postponed positions receive identical treatment across these products.
Once a pool has closed, a player cannot simply change an existing selection because one of the matches has been postponed. The ticket remains subject to the pool’s settlement rules.
For example, a player who selected the away team in a Soccer 10 fixture cannot automatically switch to a draw after learning that the match will be played several days later.
The operator determines whether the rearranged fixture can still be used for settlement or whether the abandoned-match provisions apply.
If the match qualifies as abandoned and all selections are accepted, the player’s original choice becomes correct for that position. There is no need to replace it with another prediction.
For standard Soccer 13, the situation can be different. If the match is rescheduled beyond the permitted period, the special draw supplies the relevant result. The player’s original selection is then assessed against that result.
A match eventually played after the pool has already been officially settled does not automatically reopen the coupon or replace the declared outcome.
This distinction becomes especially relevant in international soccer pools, where fixtures may be spread across several countries and time zones. The important dates are those recognised by the pool operator, not merely the revised kick-off time shown on a general soccer fixtures website.
When checking a completed pool, the official winning combination is more important than a third-party live-score listing.
A soccer results website may show a fixture as postponed, while the pool operator has already settled that position under its own rules. Both records can be correct because they describe different things.
The sporting record explains whether the match took place and what happened on the field. The pool result explains how that fixture was treated for the purpose of identifying winning tickets.
For a standard completed match, the two normally agree. For a postponed or abandoned fixture, they may differ.
Before interpreting a result or dividend, check the following details:
These details prevent a common mistake: assuming that a postponed match has been recorded as a draw simply because no winner was determined on the field.
For Soccer 6 and Soccer 10, an abandoned match can allow all three results to qualify. For standard Soccer 13, a single result may be determined through the special procedure. Neither situation should be confused with an actual 0-0 or 1-1 draw.
The officially declared combination remains the basis for settling the pool, while the final dividend reflects the number of qualifying entries and the applicable distribution rules.
